Onteora Mountain House and The Garrison -May Weddings

What a wonderful wedding weekend it was. We did two entirely different style weddings that turned out great. The first one was at The Garrison, which is such a lovely place. It has a “Shabby Chic” feel and beautiful mountain views. We love working there because it is so nice and elegant, and the people who work there are great and helpful.

We worked very closely with the Bride and her Mother whom we have gotten to know. What wonderful people whom we plan to stay in touch with. The Bride had great taste (she hired us :)  and made fun and stylish choices with us.

What else was great about this wedding is we had the opportunity to try out great new containers as well as dress up the room and the outside cocktail area.
We put fabric over the dance floor with a large twig ball. Inside the twig ball, we had an LED light that glowed in the evening.

For the cocktail hour, there were two areas with two different styled centerpieces. Outside by the ceremony area we had solar lamps in two shapes and three colors. They were slate, silver and bronze squares and teardrops. In addition, we used large twig balls with lights inside for a “Rustic Chic” look.

The centerpieces were great. We used two colored glass river rocks with the amazing large peach to pink Peony and Passion Flower leaves.

At the other cocktail area, we had a ceramic square dish with several sized ceramic river rocks. Here we had Parrot Tulips, Ranunculus and Phalaenopsis Orchids.

Inside during the reception the tables we used four sets of centerpieces. They were two sizes of Raw Cork Stump, the Rock Garden, Tribal Vases of different shapes with small antique glass bud vases, and Antiques Trumpet Vases.

Their Sweetheart table area was very special. The Mother of the Bride wanted us to use our Arch or think of something creative to do. The bride was on the fence about it because she did not want anything too fussy or over the top. Wow, my husband Steve really outdid himself. We have this great rusted metal arch with metal twigs and little birds on top. Steve dressed it up a bit with mosey lichen branch and hung two bud vases from the top.

On the sweetheart table, we had Succulents, potted Herbs, Flowers, Moss and my found Driftwood. It looked fabulous.

We bought these 7-foot tall Weeping Cherry trees for the entry and in the reception room next to our raw corkboard that the couple used for photos. Note: the corkboard is great because it can be used as a registration table or for photos.

Check out the containers. They are felt with zippers and so cool. We plan to rent them this summer.

What can I say about the Registration table other than it Rocked. Once again, my husband did an amazing job. We have this clay Urn that broke so he turned it on its side and used the broken pieces with moss to give the feel of ancient ruins. The place cards were on wine corks on top of moss in wine crates.

At every guest seat, we used a Rosemary sprig and the couple gave individual olive oil.

I love these bouquets and the bride and her girls looked so pretty. We used Peony, Garden Roses, Sweet pea, Stock and Scabiosa Pods.

The ceremony area had Peach colored petals, candles, Summer Mixed garlands, Olive Branch and flowers.

I got some amazing photos from the photographer that I need to post. Boy is she a good photographer. I love how she captured the essence of this wedding and she did a great job at making our work look as great in photos as it did at this wedding. Sorry if there are repeat arrangements. All of the following were taken by Elisabeth Millay. You can find her at http://www.elisabethmillay.com/

This wedding was at Onteora Mountain house near Woodstock.  http://www.onteora.com/

The came with specific ideas. I believe this could have been the first wedding at Onteora using “Farm style tables” but I could be wrong. They alternated farm tables with round tables. On the farm tables, we used multiple shaped and sized glass and on the round tables, they wanted wood crates mossed with pillar candles and hurricane glass. Also on these tables were four vases. The couple wanted the ceremony area to be simple. We used our new birch Huppah and hung a bunch of green glass hanging bud vases on every other aisle chair. They turned out really pretty. The colors were green, Ivory and white for the ceremony but more vibrant colors for the reception.

On the tables, we used Garden Roses, Hydrangea, Stock, Ranunculus, Tulips, and Dahlias.

These are all photos of the tables with multiple glass. I will post the wooden box detail with candles after I get a photo with the candles at night.

Bride’s bouquet with the MOH and brides maids. This is the only picture I got. I did not even have the chance to take a photo of the Mom’s Posies that turned out really pretty. I hope to get some shots from the photographers. I cannot stand when I do not get bouquet photos. I like to document all our work.

At the Registration table we turned our old wooded door with chicken wire on its side for the table names and used our moss framed wooden box for the table numbers. We used this door for a registration at Onteora before. I like it turned both ways

I got new photos from the photographers for this wedding that I also want to share. Again, there may be some shots that I have covered but it is always nice to see professional ones. They also have a great eye and do fantastic work.
